The Cult of Dying Suns

"To be so blinded by your own loyalty… To be betrayed by your own sense of denial… It terrifies me.” -Varimalis, Descendant Scribe

Founded by the mad Executor, Omir, the Cult of Dying Suns is a group responsible for bringing the Epilogus into the Sol System. Tracing their origins back to the fall of Zeresh, the cult is founded on the belief that Zeresh, the fourth Immortal, remains alive. This leads to a heretical belief that accuses Urzen (and likely any future Immortals) of being a false prophet.

As the Cult themselves took the body of Zeresh, his tomb in Elysium, while grand, remains empty. It is presumed his carcass is kept somewhere on Mercury, as it was taken shortly after the Reverans arrived in the Sol System.

The Cult was no more than a political shadow during the times before the Court relocated to Venus. Scarcely doing anything but spreading the Epilogus into Elysium itself, the Cult was mostly a joke prior to the Epilogus’ arrival onto the great roads. Omir continued to operate in the shadows, keeping his mantle as Executor of the Court to give him access to many important affairs.

When Urzen ordered construction of the Cryoship, Omir modified the schematics and worked with the planners to secure himself a place where he could store the Epilogus. Seeing an opportunity to spread “his master’s gift,” he succeeded, created a nook that would open three days after the cryostasis kicked in.

When the Reverans crashed into Mercury, they woke up from cryosleep to an infected crew. The crew, unlike the rest of the Reverans, were not cryogenically frozen- instead, they were made to pilot the ship. The truth was, they stopped piloting the ship a decade prior.

Omir allowed the Epilogus to escape into the old mines on Mercury, typically those created by Sharif Corp. This was the moment of revelation for many, and Omir was exiled by Urzen. Omir retreated into the Sharif Corp mines, where he and his followers would begin their plan for the future.
