89 TOTW Giroux Review
In total I have used TOTW Giroux for 30 games all on the first line with Parise and Christmas Laine. TW synergy was active for the team and DR for Giroux. 17 games were in D1/D2 and 13 were on my alt account in D6-D4. His stats were:
| Division | GP | G | A | P | +/- | PIM |
| D1/D2. | 17 |10| 8 | 18| 14 | 4 |
| D6-D4. | 13 |13|11| 24| 23 | 2 |
Overall: 89 Giroux was actually an extremely suprising card as I have used his 88 base card and it was solid but not exceptional. The +1 to the overall seems to make Giroux a very talented all around player. His synergies are a nice compliment for a defensive minded team (FM & DR), but not too expceptional.
Skating 9/10 Giroux is a very good overall skater, great agility, solid speed with solid acceleration and good balance for his size. It is very hard to tell when he is fatigued unless he has been out for an extremely long time, or multiple penalty kills in a row. His skating is extremely useful for quick movements to throw off defense on the cycle or simply beating a slower defenseman wide on the rush and staying on his feet. I would compare his skating abilities to Base Steven Stamkos, with better endurance.
Shooting 9/10 One of the biggest surprises for me was Giroux's shooting ability. He can rip shots far side top cheese coming into the zone on a 1 on 2, come off the circle on the cycle and put a nice accurate shot short side or take 1 timers and make them 99 times out of 100. The only knock to his shot is occasionally he'll take a weak one if he isn't in good position or is a little tired at the end of his shift. I would compare his shooting ability to Base Jeff Carter
Hands 10/10 To me Giroux feels almost exactly like a right handed Patty Kane, and while my only experience with Kane has been in Draft Champions, I would easily say the two are pretty equal. Can't go wrong here. Very rarely will he make a bad pass or lose the puck (unless he gets rocked by Weber or Hedman)
Checking 6.5-7/10 Couldn't quite decide on one number for this one, as for a smaller player Giroux is almost as solid as they come. He will get lit up if he is in a vulnerable position, but if you are not able to make a move using his skating and hands, he will often take the check and keep the puck. I haven't ever really noticed him laying someone out but from time to time will rock a smaller guy, and can knock some of the stronger players off the puck too. I would compare him to Filip Forsberg or Duncan Kieth.
Defense 9.5/10 Giroux is a very solid defensive player, always in position and has a very quick stick as he seems to always get on loose pucks first. He is able to make stick lifts without ever taking penalties and is amazing on the draw. If you get Giroux I would definately recommend putting him on the pk, as he can win draws, skate, control the puck, and win puck battles.
Good price tag is around 60k
My summary: Not only is he one of my favourite real world players but now definately one of my in game favourites. I would definately recommend this player to anyone not able to afford those heroes and legends everybody seems to have in D1, as he can definately keep up and put some in the net himself. For those of you who are lucky enough to have already amazing teams, he would be a very solid 3rd or 4th line center. He has definately inspired me to keep saving those coins up to afford my dream player, 90 or mov giroux, who seems like he could absolutely wreck sh*t in D1.
Thanks for reading this review and best of luck to all hope you can go out and buy Giroux and have some success with you. Hopefully the "icetilt" goes your way today and you don't get matched up with any desyncers or puck raggers. Rip those packs, work the market and keep grinding hut. Have a good one!
