Semi-daily hero tips. Day 5: Arc Warden
(Fucked up the title the first time, hence the repost)
PREVIOUS HEROES
DISCLAIMER
A lot of you probably know about the weekly hero discussion, but that often ends up in a meta discussion (whether or not the hero needs buffs, etc) or a meme war than actual tips to play, itemize and build the hero.
This is what I'd like to do. Please discuss any notes I made and possible improvements while also giving tips of your own if you have them.
The roles, skill builds and item builds, as well as a lot of the notes are my opinion on matters and should not be seen as a must do or don't. Also remember that almost every single build or role is situationally possible.
A lot of the tips on heroes were also mentioned in tsunami's amazing hero tips series he did over the last couple of years.
Arc Warden
Role: mid/carry, (offlane/greedy support)
Item build:
- Wand, Midas, Treads/Travels, (Diffusal, Anything really from nuke builds to support to push to carry to tank)
- Push build: Necrobook, Manta is now also a good option given his higher AGI
- Support build: Arcanes --> Greaves (note that greaves heal doesn't stack for 25 seconds)
- Special mentions for items: Mjollnir, Silver edge (big burst with 2 invis hits), Bloodthorn (extremely long silence), Sheep (extremely long sheep)
Skill build: value point in all skills or 4-0-2-1. max magnetic field last. vs solo lane offlaners flux lvl 1
Notes:
- Versus: Flux is muted when you are close to any allied OR neutral unit. So hug your teammates or creeps.
- Friends: WW, Enigma, Magnus, Shaker, Ember, WD, CM (Flux + Strong AOE's in small spaces), Dazzle, Omni, Oracle (defensive supports that can save you), Huskar (magnetic field), Lina, Skywrath, Gyro (aggressive heroes to help you snowball)
- Magnetic field works on towers and hero units, but no longer affects creeps. It also loses its effect when the enemy is also in the field.
- Counters: MKB, Force staff, Pudge, Batrider, Earth Spirit (vs magnetic field), BKB (wraith, flux), OD, Slark (both can steal attributes from the double),
Rubick (can steal double and spell steal with his own)EDIT: Rubick can no longer steal with tempest double. (/u/Ytlar) - Versus: Don't fight with them with magnetic field up! (in general)
- You can hide your wraiths in trees and in towers, which makes it a lot harder for the enemy to know there's one near.
- When making your first clone, everything comes off cooldown. Yes. Even midas. Not refresher orb though. After that the double is revived every time, which works like a regular respawn (meaning the cooldowns are not reset).
- Unlike any other hero with clones/illusions + damage items do work on Zet's clones since he gets all items (except for the ones below).
- No consumables get duplicated. Other non-duplicated items: Aegis, Rapier, Gem, muted items
- The clone does not look the same as the hero.
- You can spend Diffusal charges without really spending them, if you only use it from the clone. Same goes for any other charge based item (Drum for instance).
- Double Mek or Greaves heal does not work, remember that!
- Making a clone while the other is still alive replaces it. So refresher is not a good option in most cases.
- Versus: Carry TP's. He has no stun and flux is a ridiculous slow.
Versus: When he gets lvl 6 go find him in the jungle because he will have probably used his clone to get double midas and at lvl 1 he loses 25% of his health to make it.EDIT: He no longer loses 25% of his health, which makes him a big threat at lvl 6 for solo kill potential instead. (/u/MoarSativa)- Versus: Having no escape and being very greedy makes him an easy gank target, but NEVER do it alone. Flux + magnetic field can wreck you.
- Always be a lot more aggressive with the clone. It does not lose anything if it dies, you can still use all items and items that drop on death are not on the clone anyway.
Carry salves and clarities when you get lvl 6 so you can regen your main after cloning (less useful now since you can't clone salve).EDIT: He no longer loses 25% of his health- Flux fully stacks with itself
- Manipulate creep aggro in lane to do flux damage
- Only the edge of magnetic field has to hit the tower to give it the buff
- Spark wraiths cannot be disjointed
Versus: Ward the jungle when Zet hits 6. He'll probably push out lanes with the double while farming the jungle himself.EDIT: He no longer loses 25% of his health- Use spark wraiths to scout in unsafe laning situations. (/u/limaj_daas)
- Your level 6 kill combo is Flux, Spawn Tempest, Flux from Tempest, Spark Wraith, Spark Wraith from Tempest, and a couple of right clicks. It's easy to get used to and it will guarantee you a kill in most situations. (/u/limaj_daas)
- Always keep a TP with you since AW is great at countering dives. (/u/limaj_daas)
- Good versus: WR, other ranged right clickers (Magnetic field)
- Use Spark Wraith vision to make sure you're not kited. (/u/limaj_daas)
Please don't kill me u/thezett
