Clarification on the 3 US Constitutional Amendments on the Docket and New Bill Schedule Rules
The three US constitutional amendments on the docket, to be ratified by the Southern State General Assembly in a joint vote, have been moved to the top of the docket at the request of the President Pro Tempore, the honorable Senator from the South Atlantic u/trey_chaffin. These amendments are:
S.J.Res. 67: The Defi Amendment.
S.J.Res. 69: The Land Value Tax Amendment.
H.J.Res. 59: Strengthening the Writ of Habeas Corpus Amendment.
#Important Note:
Henceforth, the President Pro Tempore and the Speaker shall, besides being able to rush bills to the top of the docket, in their respective houses, be given the following rights:
-
Rush votes (meaning when a bill is on top of the docket they can inform the clerks whether they want that bill posted before its regular bill schedule posting date).
-
Close debate (the normal duration of debate before a bill goes to a vote shall be 3 days from now on, which may be shortened by the speaker or Lt. Governor).
-
Close voting (the speaker or Lt. Governor may inform the clerks whether they wish to end the period of voting on a bill or an amendment on a bill. The speaker and the Lt. Governor only have this right once all seated assemblymen of their respective houses have voted).
-
Extend debate (the speaker and Lt. Governor may extend the debate period on a bill, except a US constitutional amendment proposal, up to 6 days).
Since US constitutional amendments are voted on by the General Assembly of the Southern State in a joint vote, the Lt. Governor shall have the above rights in regards to those bills (except right 4 of course).
The above rights are not granted in case of confirmation hearings and votes.
