92 Overall Christmas Dan Boyle Review

Other

I've been using Dan Boyle for the last few weeks and I figured I would attempt making a review for him. I am by no means a good player (I still have no idea how I made it to Div 3) so my stats with him aren't anything eye-popping (8 goals and 14 assists in 39 games) however let me tell you, he has been an amazing card and is extremely fun to play with.

Please also note I have him playing along side 89 Overall TOTW McDonagh as my second pairing

Skating 9/10 - Plain and simple, Boyle can fly. While 92+ in all of his speed stats he is able to easily catch up with most cards and if in position can blow past the majority of players. I'm sure with team wheel he would be an absolute beast.

Shooting 8/10 - Boyle has an absolute cannon. With 95 in SS power, your gonna be taking clap bombs from the point all day. The only downside to his shot is his lower accuracy (in comparison to other higher end players) at 88 for SS and WS.

Hands 8/10 - As a defense-man, I don't really do too much deking with him since I'm usually either trying to set him up for the one timer or trying to take a slap-shot from the point. However, his hands stats are nothing to to scoff at. He is an excellent passer and has very good control over the puck. I'm sure if you are an expert dangler you will not be too disappointed with his 90 deking as well.

Checking 9/10 - He may not look like it (at only 5'11'', 190 lbs), Boyle has a knack for supplying big hits and bringing the pain. While his body checking is only at 88, I still find it easy to lay out an opponent or knock them off the puck with ease.

Defense 9/10 - Boyle is just a good defense-man, nothing really more to it. While I have had my troubles with offensive defense-men in the past (KLINGBERG!!!) I have had no issues with Boyle on the defensive side of the game. Like I previously said, he can easily knock someone off the puck, can catch up to other players with ease and his blocking and stick checking are also very, very good.

Overall, Boyle is just a great card and is super fun to use. He is easily one of my favorite cards to come out this year and I have no plans on removing him from my roster anytime soon. He is just such a versatile player who seems to be very good at everything. If I could improve one thing about his card it would be his shooting accuracy. Honestly, if his accuracy was higher I probably would have given him a 10/10 in shooting because of how deadly his shooting power is. At the time of the review, his card is currently selling between 160k and 170k on the auction house (PS4). If you are looking for a speedy puck moving defense-man for the power play or a guy who you can get up on the point and take claps, than this is absolutely the player for you. I cannot stress enough how much I love this card (and this is coming from a Ranger fan who thought Dan Boyle was the bane of the Rangers defense over the last few years).

Please let me know if you found this review helpful or enjoyable. Any feedback is welcome (on my writing, on my reviewing, etc.) If you all enjoy this, maybe I'll try and make a habit of writing player reviews every once and a while.

TL/DR - Boyle is a monster with excellent Skating, Checking, and Defense, while having above average hands and would have an elite tier shot if his accuracy was a bit higher.

Edit - I should probably mention what synergies I have active on my team...
