91 TOTW Giroux Review

Other

Hey everyone, some of you may remember me doing a bunch of hero reviews a bit earlier in the year. Since then I've switched up my team a lot and have more reviews to write, Today's review is for 91 TOTW Giroux. This card is usually around 250-300k on PS4. I'll be basing my review off the 5 stats on the card and sharing his stats through 49 games. Keep in mind that I have the following synergies active: PP, DD, WW, OJ, S, NP, FM, DR, HH, IS, DC, T, 1T, SB, CG.

Skating: 9/10: Although Giroux is by no means the fastest skater, he can get around flatfooted defensemen without an issue, especially when he is fresh off the bench. He can get on a breakaway if there is room, but don't expect him to pull a Bure and spontaneously create a breakaway. His greatest strength is his agility, which allows him to avoid hits and make tight turns.

Shooting: 9/10: I was pleasantly surprised with Giroux's shot. His wrist shot is hard and accurate, and his slapshot isn't too shabby either. I'd compare his shot to 92 Manny Malhotra in terms of effectiveness.

Hands: 10/10: Giroux has some of the smoothest hands in the game. His dekes are quick and effective, and his passing feels unfair at times. Although I am a terrible deker, even I have scored some very nice goals with him, walking through entire teams at times.

Defense: 9.5/10: Having 97 faceoffs with FM active makes it near impossible to lose a faceoff with Giroux unless you come up against someone who really knows what they're doing. His defensive positioning is flawless and if there is a pass near him, it's his.

Physical: 8/10: Although normally Giroux is thought of as a weakling, that is definitely not the case with this card. With 92 strength, 96 balance and 92 hitting, he can definitely take a hit. This makes him especially useful since most opponents don't expect you to keep the puck after hitting Giroux. This is definitely the most surprising part about this card and a huge upside.

Overall Giroux is a great two way centre who can put up points as well as stop the other team. His synergies (FM, HH, DR) really help make him an all around player and help him compete with bigger and stronger players. Another thing that I've found with this card is that it is extremely consistent. He won't have too many three point games but you can count on him to put up points on a regular basis. Through 49 Division 1 games, while playing on a line with base Kane and POTN Laine, Giroux had: 12 goals, 25 assists, 37 points, + 24, 2 PIM.

Let me know who you guys would like to see reviewed next, and I hope you enjoyed reading.
