History would suggest you are incorrect.
Honestly, I would seriously suggest that you look into the history of the Weimar Republican, the Freikorps and a lot of other things you've probably never heard of because you don't actually know anything at all about the rise of Nazis in Germany.
History is very clear: leftists starting fights with fascists leads the general population to blame the leftists, because they started it, and look to the fascists to protect them (because leftists are usually pretty bad at telling skeptics, from outright enemies, and will frequently fight both).
I've been living in Germany for 25 years.
Put it this way: Milo Yiannopoulos was a nobody 3 years ago. Look where 3 years of hatred from people on the left side of the spectrum towards him has gotten him.
His upcoming book shot up to the top 5 on Amazon after people demanded the publisher cancel it for "hate speech".
People embrace extremist ideologies when they fear for their security. My argument is that fear should be the focus, fear needs to be mitigated. There are other ways to provide security than the methods facist ideologies advocate.
My argument has nothing to do with any of those things. We only have to look at history and what worked. Neville Chamberlain's appeasement did nothing and that letter he brought back from his meeting with Hitler was worth nothing.
It took raw force, absolute and utter violence to remove the Nazi's from power because they weren't going away on their own.
History would suggest you are wrong. Violence is effective against Nazis and is likely the only thing that is effective.
Yep... it is a very effective tactic... But it has the opposite of the effect you might have thought about.
Have you seen any Nazi governments in the last... oh, 70 years?
Have you seen what happened before Nationalsocialists came to power?
Also these people over here are talking about punching people they disagree with.
Yes, I've done some reading. I live in Germany after all. It's rather hard to avoid actually.
I'm not talking about "punching people I disagree with". I'm talking about ending a Nazi government.
that was cuz conservadem style politicians were in charge of Weimar Germany and were too cowardly then to use violence on the Nazis.
oh shit <3 i got banned from anarchism for saying violence is wrong too
rightfully so. violence obviously worked great against Nazis. the south too.
The irony is the German left did get into literal gutter brawls and gang warfare with the Nazis. That's why they formed paramilitary groups like the SA and SS.
The double irony comes when you consider how the fear and loathing the Communists had for the Nazis was actually a selling feature for establishment conservatives who thought Hitler was a grubby thuggish demagogue.
"bash the fash" is counterproductive virtue signaling for sad little manlets that want to sucker punch somebody and not feel guilty.

It's not just counterproductive. It's helpful.
Skinheads, but their nature, don't pick fights with people who society cares about, so they can be violent for years without the media noticing it too much. But anarchists pick fights with working people and the middle class, so that gets noticed right away. And people look at the two groups--one of whom attacks people like them, and the other which doesn't--and guess which one they tend to side with?
Snotty left-wingers acting the way they are right now is actually a prerequisite in turning ballot-box actions into street-level actions, that is to say, making people go from voting for these people, to cracking heads on the street for them. They have to feel threatened, because when in battle, you are brothers against your enemy.

look at how the media reacted to trayvon martin, michael brown, and other justified killings. there probably isn't much "skinhead" activity going on at all.
I'd say you are correct. Unfortunately people can't see beyond their own perspectives and mods do whatever they want by design. Subreddits are technofiefdoms
