TOTW Russell Review

Hey Reddit, I've got another in many reviews i've done already. This time its TOTW Kris Russell. Here we go...

Name: Kris Russell Number: 6 Synergies: IS (1) and SB (2) Team: Edmonton Oilers Position: LD Does ge have a MOV? No Rating: 86

Kris is currently at 3rd line LD, paired up with POTG Dumba. He has 0G and 8A in 22 GP with a +7 differencial

Bodychecking: 8,5/10 Kris Russell is a great hitter. Finishes off his opponents very well. I love hitting with Russell. He can hit anywhere too. This gives options on defense too. You can use him in many situations. Not much more to say in this category

Deking and Agility: 6,5/10 He's not a very agile player. Thats a big reason why I paired him up with Dumba, that is crazy agile. They go well together. Simple dekes he can execute, but don't count on him for that situation. I can't go up the full ice using just him. You have to be really good to do that.

Skating: 8/10 Russell is actually pretty quick. He can join a rush, and it isn't going to hurt if he does. Very useful for me on the rush. He also comes back, which is good.

Shooting: 6/10 I know, I know. He hasn't scored a single goal in 22 games played. You might be wondering why he EARNS himself a 6/10 rating. Thats because most of his assists come from tippedshots. For some reason, he's one of those defenders that can find the players. Hawerchuk has tipped a few of his shots, which helps. He always hits the net too. Very rarely he goes wide. I just wished he could capitalize. But thats not his role necessarily on my team...

Defense: 10/10 Russell is a shutdown defenseman. There, I had to say it. His pokechecking is one of the best I've used. On the 2-1s against me, I use it with him and its efficient. Its become automatic for me. His hitting, as I've mentioned is great too. But what stands out the most in his case is the shot blocking. Holy crap. The synergies help alot too. He can block anything. Thats one of his main roles (and also activating SB, which I find is one of the best and most underrated synergies in the game). Overall, Ilike having a shutdown guy like him

To resume, Russell is the perfect guy for a player that need to strengthen up his defense. If you can make him work on offense, good job. He can be important for a team
