How to recover your OP3T if the OTA right out of the box broke your phone
Unfortunately it seems like many here, including myself, are having this same issue right after getting our phones. You boot it up, start to work on it and set it up, and you get a prompt to install the latest OTA update. Unfortunately the OTA "fails to install" and it makes your phone completely unbootable at this point. If this happens to you as long as you can still get to recovery mode you will be just fine.
-
To boot into recovery mode follow steps 2 and 3 from here: http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3t/oneplus_3t_oxygenos_4.0.2/ and hook your phone up to your computer.
-
go to oneplus.net and download the full 4.0.2 rom for your phone. http://oxygenos.oneplus.net.s3.amazonaws.com/OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_039_all_1701140132_de9036f11e2246a8.zip
-
Then download the android platform tools for your OS (what OS do you have) https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html extract these files to a folder. Place the rom you downloaded into this same folder.
-
then open up terminal/command prompt within that platform tools folder and run this command For Windows(you can press tab while typing the .zip filename and it will autocomplete the full name):
adb sideload OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_039_all_1701140132_de9036f11e2246a8.zip -
or For Mac/Linux run this command(you can press tab while typing the .zip filename and it will autocomplete the full name):
./adb sideload OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_039_all_1701140132_de9036f11e2246a8.zip
This will transfer and install the rom/OS to your phone. Then you should be able to reboot within recovery mode from your phone and be back up and running! I hope this can help others that encounter this same issue.
If you cant get into recovery mode, but you can get into 'fastboot mode' you can try this command to cleanly install OOS 4.0.2. This will fully wipe the phone.
fastboot -w update OnePlus3TOxygen_28_OTA_039_all_1701140132_de9036f11e2246a8.zip
