91 TOTW Bergeron Review
Introduction
91 TOTW Bergeron is a key component to my team; Not only does he single-handedly provide two out of the four needed points for FM, but he's also an amazing right handed centre for the PK. I spent around 10 days scouring the market searching for one for a fair price, and although he's not the most expensive player on my team, he's the one that cost me the most. With a high price tag comes high expectations (both consciously and subconsciously), and I have to say he does not disappoint.
#The Basics
Card Stats
Here you can see his in depth card stats. Synergies active are: TW, 1T, B, TT, CG, and FM.
Team
Here's a link to my team, where you can see he played centre (duh) on my third line with MOV Gaudreau on the left wing, and 89 MS Iginla on the right. He also played on my PK2, and my 3 Man PK2.
Games Played
I've played a total of 39 games with him (all with the same team shown above): 15 in Division One, 3 in the Elite Cup, and 21 in Competitive Seasons, with a record of 26 Wins, 9 Losses, and 4 OTL.
Stats
Unfortunately, I can't provide Bergeron's stats with me (goals, assists, etc.) because I accidentally reset them just recently, but if I recall correctly, his production was run-of-the-mill for me; not particularly good or bad.
Cost
He's a pretty rare card, and there's often either zero or one of him on the market at a time, which is why I bought mine for 330k a week ago. But with the recent market crash, and the fact that he just got a 92 TOTW, you could probably snag one for around 250k-300k.
#The Numbers
Skating - 9/10
With 94 Acceleration, 94 Speed, and 97 Agility, Bergeron can hang with the faster players in the game. Don't get me wrong, he's no Bure or anyone like that, but he can definitely hold his own, which is crucial to being able to compete in Division One.
Shooting - 8/10
Bergeron's got a good shot; specifically his slapshot, however, he seems to have more flukey shots than most players. I'm not sure why, but he misses the net more than anyone on my team. Like I said, his shot is good, but expect the occasional miss.
Bonus Clip - Here's a goal I scored with him with 0.2 seconds left in the period.
Hands - 9/10
Bergeron's passing is remarkable, but other than that his other puck skills are solid. He's not the most technically gifted player I've used, but he's certainly very good. Definitely haven't had any problems with him, just not particularly amazing (other than his passing).
Faceoffs - 11/10
Bergeron's got 99 Faceoffs, which deserves a 10/10, except for the fact that he has 2 to FM, which means you can activate Faceoff Master with your other two centres, while still using your 95 Mike Richards (who has 99 Faceoffs himself) at centre.
Checking/Physical - 8/10
Beregeron's Physical stats aren't all that impressive; His only redeeming qualities here is that he's decent at hitting, and that he's relatively tall at 6'2.
Defense - 9.5/10
Beregeron's got great defensive abilities; if he's on your team, he's on your PK. With his 99 Faceoffs, 97 Defensive Awareness, and 96 Stick Checking, he is the perfect penalty killer.
Synergies - Hit or miss
Bergeron has 2 to FM, which for some teams (like my own), is perfect, but for most teams is pretty useless. As I mentioned in the Faceoffs section above, if you're looking to activate FM while still using that 95 Mike Richards, then this is definitely the card for you.
#Conclusion
Overall - 9/10
Between having perfect faceoffs, being great in most areas and good in the rest, Bergeron certainly deserves a solid 9/10. His biggest strength is his lack of weakness; there's not much that he can't do well.
Value for Coins - 6.5/10
Bergeron's price is inflated for a few reasons: His rarity, his 99 Faceoffs, and his 2 to FM; all of which make him a pretty niche card. Particularly due to the recent market crash, I'd say that there are definitely lots of cards with better stats than Bergeron out there for much cheaper. However, with that being said, he's the perfect card to activate FM, and still a good card for anyone looking to bolster their PK.
Recommendation
All things considered, I would not recommend 91 TOTW Bergeron, unless you are looking to activate faceoff master while keeping 95 Mike Richards at centre, in which case I would highly recommend him.
Similar Cards
He's basically a right handed 91 TOTW Jonathan Toews with better faceoffs, worse hands, and niche synergies.
TL;DR - 91 TOTW Bergeron is a niche card that's a jack of all trades and a master of one: Faceoffs.
Final Words
I hope you enjoyed! This is my first player review, so any and all feedback you may have is greatly appreciated. Anything from formatting, something you wished I talked about, length/depth, or whatever it may be, I'd love to hear it. :)
