Base Stamkos Review
(small disclaimer to start but for those who asked me for other player reviews yesterday i'll try to finish them all by tomorrow night, wednesday night at the latest, <3)
Quick Stats:
-
Played LW with MOV Henrik/Daniel Sedin in D1/CS games for about 80-100ish games
-
Had WW, 1T, T, and CG activated for him
-
Costs around 85k on PS4
-
Couldn't get accurate stats as he was also one of my many players (about 1/2 my team) who got their stats reset (scored around .8-.85 ppg iirc)
Skating: 9/10
Stammer has some of the fastest legs in the game. He is quick to accelerate, and can hit and maintain his top speed very fast and consistently, only taking noticeable drops when severely fatigued. His agility and balance are also strong, giving him lethal options when he is leading the rush with the puck. One of the best skaters I have used this year so far.
Passing/Puck Skillz: 8.5/10
Maybe it's because I used Stamkos as a finisher most of the time, but I haven't blown away or disappointed by his passing, just merely satisfied. He's not the most crazy sauce wizard in the game, but he's reliable enough to make you not want to play with your passing settings for 10 years. However, his stickwork with the puck is where he excels. His dekes are fast, agile, and can cover lots of ground depending on his speed. He rarely loses the puck on quick, sharp moves, however I will say, like all fast players, don't think you can do the between-the-legs deke at full speed every time. He has his limits, however small they are.
Shooting: 9.5/10
Ohhhhhh boi, Stammer with WW and 1T on is an absolute snipe machine. You don't even need to try at all and he'll still put it where you want him to ;))). But yeah, Stamkos, with that 97 WWA and 95 WWP tears any goalie apart, from Kolzig to Hextall. His clapper is also amazing as well, even if the goalie saves it, the puck on occasion can trickle lose due to Stammer's powerful release, getting you a nice rebound or even a goal. Perfect shot for the "pass off the pads" play.
Physical: 7/10
Unless you enjoy getting frustrated, you're not gonna get Stamkos just to throw him on a checking line. While he can take decent amounts of punishment, and even on the odd occasion throw some himself, his card doesn't reflect a giant, biznasty-type beast. Really not much else to say, Stammer's just an average-ass guy when it comes to laying the body.
Defense: 7/10
Honestly didn't really notice Stammer too much in terms of his defensive game, which I think is good, cause it means he isn't fucking up too often. From what I've seen using him, he is kinda above-average on defense, due to his decent pokecheck and reliable positioning. You won't find yourself yelling at him too often unless you pull him out of position.
Is he worth it????
Stammer for 80-85k is an incredible value for such an incredible offensive force. For comparison, he's honestly like a better base Kessel with slightly more emphasis on defense. Stamkos will be a welcome addition to any team looking for a pure sniper on their top 6, as well as those who are looking for a solid player with WW.
