90 TOTW Giroux Review

Other

I have TOTW 90 Giroux on a line with 97 ASG Crosby and Mov Panarin. Active team synergies are 1t, CG, TT, TW, and T.

Stats 55 GP 18G 33A +6 in Division 1.

Skating 9/10 Giroux is fast and agile. And TW active makes him fly! If there is a race to the puck, you can bet Giroux will win the race. There are very few skaters that will beat him in a 1v1 race.

His agility really helps when you are carry the puck in the zone and need to make quick moves to try and create separation on the ice. He is not as fast as duchene and sullivan, but he is just below them in this category. If you like speed and agility, Giroux is your man!

Shooting 8.5/10 His shooting is not his strongest attribute. His wrister is good, but not great. When shooting wrist shots with Giroux he can pick the occasional corner, but not like Stamkos or Ovechkin. If you want to score with Giroux, you will have a much better success rate on a one timer. If he is set up with a 1T, he will rarely miss the puck and will almost always find the back of the net.

Hands 9.5/10 This is Giroux's best quality. He has some silky smooth mittens on him. When it comes to picking up or knocking down loose pucks, he will not fail to gain possession. He can pull off any deke at anytime on the ice which really allows you to create open space to create scoring chances. Guys like Mov Voracek, Mov Hall, and 89 Laine can have success most of the time with loose puck dekes, but Giroux will not let you down. His passing is very accurate, and can mostly make its way through traffic.

Checking 7.5/10 If you are looking for a set up man who can be physical and lay the body, you need to get a guy named Modano. Giroux is a smaller guy and can not knock a player his size or larger off of the puck. If you line someone his size or slightly bigger up and carry enough momentum, you can lay a decent hit. Smaller guys like Gaudreau or Zuccarello will be no problem. His stick checking makes up for his lack of physicality though. His poke check and stick lift are very accurate while taking very few penalties.

Defense 9/10 Giroux is great in his own end. He has great defensive awareness which allows him to be in the right spot to break up a pass or prevent a shot from being taken. His speed allows him to be great on the backcheck and will catch guys not named Grabner or ASG Crosby.

In conclusion, Giroux is a great center all around. You can use him on both ends of the ice with no problems. Additionally, he is great on the faceoff dot. You can use him as a top centerman, or on a defensive line. Just be sure to add a bigger guy to his line if you prefer to play a physical game.
