Should I change workouts or keep pushing through the one I am currently on?

I have been lifting for a few years now but I have recently gotten into it very seriously. I am currently doing a PPL over a 6 day split and have been doing it for about 7 months. My numbers have started to plateau so I'm just curious if I should switch up my workout or stay steady with what I'm doing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm 6' and I float around 200-205

Numbers Bench 155 => 235 Squat 245 => 365 Deadlift 275 => 395

You might be experiencing a plateau. You can change the order of your exercises or just simply switch around the rep ranges for a couple of weeks. Most importantly keep track of your diet to see what your macros are like (eating enough to maintain, or eating too little to build muscle, etc). All of this factors into a plateau and getting out of a plateau.

Time to deload and start another progression.

There are different ways to do this. If you're on a specific program, it will tell you how and you should follow the guidelines given.

Otherwise you can use this generic deload:

Week 1

  • 80% former maxes
  • No change in volume

Week 2

  • 90% former maxes
  • No change in volume

Week 3

  • 100% former maxes
  • Progress from here as before

If you're really trashed, take one week off before this to do no real lifting at all.

You can use the deload weeks to swap in alternate exercises if you like, to try them out before your next progression starts. But get everything solid by mid week 2.
