[SECRET] Baltic Sea ELINT exercises
The Federal Republic of Germany has in the past years procured several Zephyr model T High-Altitude Pseudo-Satellites.
It is time for us to test them and their practical uses.
The Zephyr, flying at 60,000 feet and subsisting entirely off of solar power, has an endurance of at least 30 days, and we intend to use it. With a range of 250 miles, it is sufficiently capable to conduct the following mission:
We will station 2 Zephyr aircraft at a point just south-west of the Danish island of Bornholm. From there, they are in an ideal location to conduct training missions to demonstrate their intelligence capabilities. They will be officially tasked with the following:
- Tracking and detection of Germany's U31 and U33 submarines, which will be deployed on exercises to NATO allied waters only (i.e. Danish, Polish and German only)
- Demonstrating the high-capacity information streams that the Zephyr is capable of, as well as the infra-red, electro-optical and magnetic sensing capabilities that it is equipped with. Of chief interest will be the ability of the Zephyr to detect magnetic anomalies beneath the surface of the Baltic from such a high altitude. If such a thing is possible we will be very pleased.
Unofficially, the Zephyrs will be tasked with observing the Russian military bases at Baltiysk, Chernyakhovsk, Dunskoye and Kaliningrad Chkalovsk, and any movement of the Russian Baltic Fleet. We do not expect any, but it is best to be safe.
This exercise will be kept under wraps for the next 30 days.
