ASG McDavid Review

I havent seen much about this card so I thought Id take a crack at it and potentially save you some coin in the process.

Skating 9.5/10

Everything you would expect from him, almost. His top end speed and agility are exceptional, the only thing lacking, to my surprise, was his acceleration. I have TW & S active and I also have ASG Faulk to compare it to. Coming second to the ASG Faulk in skating is nothing to be bummed about though. His agilty combined with see below hands are lethal in the zone for creating scoring chances.

Shooting 8/10

You might argue that Im not a good player, or I cant score. And well damnit, you'd sometimes be right. However, I gave ASG McDavid my 1RW spot previously occupied by MS Modano 211 GP, 129G, 96A. After 37games McDavid has 4G and 19A. That doesnt tell the whole story of course. His wrister is insanely quick, comes off the blade like a f*****g rocket. But he is reaching Cam Neely or Andrew Brunette level post/crossbar sniping. Its a shame because its easy to find him or put him in a good spot. Maybe Probably i suck. Or maybe its the accuracy?

Hands 9.5/10

Exactly what you would think from McJesus himself. Not much else to say about it honestly. Have you ever seen him hockey before? Turns on the jets, dekes all over the place and can put it on the tape. Aside from the random pass accross that goes 90 degrees opposite the intended direction he is on point here. Not Datsyukian with the dangles but who is?

Defense 9/10

What he lacks in physicality he more than makes up for in back checking. Positioning and stick checking are both far above average. The only thing that keeps him from a 10 here is his almost inability to check. Knocking people off the puck isnt an issue but actually keeping them away from the puck physical isnt likely. Great on the forecheck as well.

Summary

All said and done this is a fantastic card. If I could find the net with him he'd be easily worth the price tag. While he wont keep the 1st line spot I gave him he will remain in the lineup. Hes fun to skate around with at the very least. If you are looking for a nasty sniper, this may not be your guy. But again could be operator defect. Who knows? For 300k you might be able to find cheaper unless you need that 2 TW.Card 9/10
