The base Stamkos Review nobody asked for.
Hi all,
So I just recently picked up Stamkos to try for the first time ever in HUT. There are a lot of good reviews for this card around this sub, but I felt like I needed to say something.
Synergies active: WW, TW, CG, SB
Line: Stamkos - MS Lindros - David Booth
Stats: 37GP, 27A 13A, 40P
Skating: 8.5/10. Overall Stamkos is a great skater. He is very strong on the puck and can generally pass most defenders on a break out. He is not as skilled of a skater as many others on My Team, which is why I am more critical of this stat.
Shooting: 9.5/10. Obviously this is why you buy Stamkos. He can burry the puck from literally anywhere on the ice. With WW active you can use a wrister or slapper interchangeably, and the result is the same. The only two players with better shots in my book would be Booth and MS Modano.
Hands/Passing: 9/10. Stamkos can dangle his way through an entire team with ease. His hands are like silk, and it seems like sometimes the only way to get the puck from him is to hit him. His passing is nothing to right home about, but it's often dependable and doesn't end up back in my zone (that often).
Checking: 7/10. Dispite his relatively big body, Stamkos can't seem to lay down a hit. I would play him on a line with some bigger guys to do the dirty work.
Defense: 8/10. Again, stammer is an offensive player, not a defensive. That being said, his stick checking is a bit above average, and he generally seems to be in position in my own end. He is fantastic at intercepting passes and creating plays from turnovers.
Overall: 9/10. I would say Stamkos is an offensive staple on any team. I doubt that he will leave my team, or even my top line all year. He is definitely worth the coins, and if you have never played with him before I highly recommend it.
