Milestone (90) kessel review
Okay so, this card has instantly become my favorite card so far, his card stats dont do him justice.
Skating 9.5/10 - Kessel can skate, and by skate, i mean give bure a run for his money. He has 93 acceleration to go along with 96 speed, but both honestly feel like 99 even when i dont uave TW active. Hes not only agile, but he can get 3 or 4 good bursts of speed down the ice before you notice a major difference in fatigue. Only reason for him not being a 10 is because he doesnt have elite balance, that doesnt mean its bad tho. He can take a few checks and still keep the puck, only time i really got hit hard while dekeing is from bigger bodies like weber and big buff, and even then, he didnt fall as often as i thought he would, he'd fall to his knees amd pop back up.
Shooting 10/10- Kessel doesnt have have the hardest wrister or clapper, but my gosh, he is damn near perfect when it comes to accuracy. To me, hes a slight notch above base patty kane when it comes to picking corners, you dont even have to load the wrister all the way back, just flick up on the right stick and it'll go in if theres a tiny bit of room. His slapper is the same, not necessarily hard, but very accurate and quick, he shot is sneaky and gives goalies trouble.
Hands 11/10- Thats not a typo.. hes get an 11 out of 10 for hands. The guy can dangle both goalies and players out of position, i rarely go to the backhand on breakaways, but kessel changed that, for some reason going backhand on a breakaway works more than going forehand for some reason. His puck control is underrated, as mentioned with his balance, he can get hit and not fall, this is extremely helpful when you take into account his puck control.
Checking 6/10 - not much to say here. This is his worst stat, but i mean its kessel.... you dont buy him to lay people out. He can knock people over if theyre mid deke or players around his weight, but thats about it. He wont steal any games with you for his hitting lol
Defense 8.5/10- Kessel is surprisingly good with poke checking, i play him on the point during the man advantage, and the odd times where i get caught with only kessel back, hes made some extremely big defensive plays. Only downfall is his defensive awareness isnt amazing. Sometimes to puck will get passed to the point and he'll just leave his man open for no reason, even when i have tight point set up. But as with checking, you dont buy Kessel for his checking or defense, so i dont even think its a big deal.
Verdict - 90 MS Kessel is an absolute beauty of a card, hes a poor mans Shanahan with more speed and better hands, but without the checking. Easily my favorite card that ive used up to this point, havent seen too many on the market, but last price i saw him up for was at 180k, whick imo is a fsir price for how he plays.
