Nintendo account nicknames limited to 10 characters?

I set up a Nintendo Account today and my Nickname was limited to 10 characters.

Per the leak it looks like that is the same on the Switch itself.

Not a huge deal but that seems kind of low to me. My normal gamertag/online profiles wont fit for sure.

How did this work on the Wii U?
