Help with barcode scanner that behaves like a keyboard

Hello,

I got a barcode scanner that behaves like a normal keyboard. I would like to catch the keyboard events using a java program in background and prevent that events from being caught by other processes like the browser (because it starting having a very weird behavior).

I don´t really know how to catch the barcode events and prevent them from propagate to other processes, any suggestions?

Also do you think libgdx can help here or would you use pure java? I would be a very simple program. It just needs to get the events and write then in a log file. The difficult part is to make this happen in background while I am using the browser or other program.
