Need help with the Houston Rodeo BBQ Cookoff

Hello everyone, I have gone to the Houston Rodeo a couple of times over the years but only to the carnival and livestock show. I wanted to know if there are any special requirements to go to the BBQ cookoff. My dad likes BBQ quite a bit so it would be nice for him to get to taste some of the best when they come into town.
