Real-Life Boom Hammer (sort of)

Fluff

The Boom Hammer is kind of known for being one of Bloodborne's more ridiculous and impractical Trick Weapons. I mean, it's a hammer with a furnace inside which sprays fire and burning embers everywhere when you hit something with it. Compared to swords, axes, rifle spears (basically a rifle with a bayonet if you think about it) or even whip swords, it sounds like the stuff of madness.

But what I recently realized is that someone actually seriously came up with and built, without being inspired by Bloodborne in any way, a weapon that's very similar to the Boom Hammer. And it is in fact fully functional, in the sense that it actually shoots fire.

Admittedly, it isn't actually wieldable by humans: it's part of a 250 lb fighting robot called Blacksmith. The hammer head has a propane/butane powered flamethrower built into it, fed by a gas tank in the robot's chassis.

But look at this thing, seriously. It really does look like the Boom Hammer.

Here's some video of it in action.

Unfortunately it's not exactly the most effective weapon against metal-armored robots which can't really be ignited by short bursts of flame, but it's awesome to watch in action. But it looks awesome.
