First time ever session
Not for me, but for my five players 80% of whom have never played any kind of RPG at all, tabletop, computer game or otherwise.
I'm going all out for their first game; miniatures, dungeon tiles, maps and handouts. I really want them to have a great time.
I'm a big believer that the best thing a DM can do is pillage and steal others ideas and I have it even easier in that all of these guys aren't as jaded as I am towards old RPG tropes.
As it stands I'm thinking I'll have them start rolling into a seemingly abandoned town and learn most of the skill check mechanics from their investigation. And I have a basic plot progression going from there, but there is always room for improvement.
So I have come to you for inspiration!
What are your favorite first session tricks, plot hooks, tips and adventures?
