Regarding Shinbi: I don't understand this notion of a character "not fitting" into an entire universe.

I'll preface by saying that I am completely in agreement that EPIC desperately needs to start diversifying the 'silhouettes' of their heroes; the chain of 'themed human(oid) dude' and 'themed human(oid) chick' is getting stale.

HOWEVER, I am not following the logic behind this complaint:

"She doesn't fit into the world of Paragon."

Firstly, it's EPIC's world, not ours. Furthermore, it's a sci-fi world, and for my money, as soon as there are multiple societies in a world, let alone multiple entire worlds, all bets are off. On this front, to me, this complaint is no different than saying something doesn't belong in our own infinite universe of possibilities.

Second, diversity of character personality is kind of a cornerstone design element in any hero-based game (MOBAs, arena shooters, fighting games, etc.). I feel like we had to see some heroes starting to spice it up eventually (honestly, I thought we were ready for anything after Narbash showed up). While EPIC may be inadequate at/unwilling to get away from putting amaaaaazing asses in their roster, I think it's at least a good thing that Shinbi can cater to certain demographic corners of all us dorks that no other hero has covered yet.

Third, what exactly is it about the personalities of Murdock/Belica (The Advanced Warfare Duo), Sparrow (Woman with Bow), Twinblast (his name is literally fucking Twinblast), Steel (an utterly blank slate), and numerous others that so many seem to want to be emblematic of the game itself? As far as I can tell, the biggest factor of her personality being so different is that she actually seems to have one. Does she stand out? Yes, and that's what all the heroes should be doing, so blame the aforementioned heroes having no overt identity for making you fill in those blanks and assume the tone of an entire fictional universe.

I understand that she's different, and you might not be into her design. But to say that she objectively "doesn't belong" is nonsensical on multiple fronts.

P.S.: Pop idols dress slutty by choice because they are performers. This is, hands-down, the most justifiably-sexualized hero yet.
