If you're building a consumer product brand and selling your products online, what is your most effective marketing channel, and what's your social media account?
Hi guys!
I quit my job last month to start a sunglasses brand, and I'm currently in China with manufacturers building out my prototype. Building the product is one thing - marketing is an entirely different beast, and I'm trying to understand how e-commerce-first companies leverage social media for marketing.
How important is social media to you for advertising, marketing and brand-building? What is your social media account? I'm trying to decide whether I need to associate my brand with a lifestyle/story that I can communicate well via images and videos.
For example: [Triangl] (https://www.instagram.com/triangl/), a bikini company, has 3.1M followers - hot chicks wearing bikinis on beaches
[Hawkers] (https://www.instagram.com/hawkersco/), a sunglasses company, has 495K followers - hot girls wearing sunglasses by the pool
A simple, crude way of saying it is: would it be a good idea for me to invest time and money into building a social media account around hot girls wearing my sunglasses? :)
Thank you!
