How to beat a hangover -or- Zaphod's drinking day stack
I used to drink way too much pretty frequently when I was young and now I'm approaching 30. Even drinking small amounts renders me sick, stupid, and tired the next day. Problem is I love wine, cocktails, and craft beer.
I've read several threads here that have revolved around reducing hangovers and alcohol damage. Took me a little while to go through it all and I wanted to just compile it to make it all easier for the next lightweight or hard drinker who doesn't want to feel like dying on Sunday morning.
My goal here is to reduce any brain and liver issues and detriment to testosterone levels/ general life performance in the day or two after drinking.
Major thanks to u/misteryouaresodumb as almost all of this info came from various comments of his in various threads.
Before drinking (at least 15-20 minutes)
- NAC 500MG (Nootropics Depot)
- Emoxypine 125 MG (ND)
- Cordyceps Mushroom extract 500 mg (ND)
- Milk Thistle 150 MG (Jarrow)
- Chelated Magnesium 133 MG (Vitacost)
Before Bed
- ZMA (VitaCost)
- Melatonin 3 MG (VitaCost)
- B Complex (VitaCost)
Obviously drink plenty of water while you're drinking and before bed to avoid dehydration and the problems that will come with it. The main stack eliminated all trace of hangover when I definitely would have had one without it. First time I tried it I still slept terribly, which I always do after drinking, usually waking up several times. Adding the melatonin in really made a difference in the quality of sleep I got.
Good luck, and cheers!
