3D is broken just like it was in SE3
At least on consoles. People playing in 3D with Aim Assist might not notice so much, but if you play without it and try aiming with just your crosshairs, you fill find it pretty much impossible.
The problem is this: Right now, when looking through your scope (or your binoculars, for that matter), you cannot aim using your crosshairs - because the view through the scope is in 3D, and not in 2D how it should be.
The same issue was already present in SE3, and was later fixed by the option to switch scoped view to 2D. For some reason, though, that option does not exist in SE4.
Right now, with a 3D scope view, the crosshairs in your scope and whatever you're looking at are perceived at different distances, meaning your eyes can either focus on your target (far away) or your crosshairs (very close). The result is that you see a double image of your target (if you focus on the crosshairs) or a double image of your crosshairs (if you focus on your target).
As an example, put one finger close in front of your face, between you and your monitor, then look at your finger and then the further away screen. If you focus your eyes on your finger, you will see a blurry, unfocused double image of the screen, if you focus on your screen, you will see two blurry fingers.
Now, if you close one eye, the double image goes away - and you could now "aim" your finger at a point on the screen in a straight line.
Stereoscopic 3D view creates distances by showing you things from slightly different angles. Your eyes, both of them, look at something from two slightly different points. Which is great for depth perception, but not great if you need to point something in a straight line, like a rifle through a scope. There is a reason you only look through scopes with one eye, after all, but (just like when SE3) originally release, the designers forgot about that.
As to the binoculars, they are actually looked through with two eyes, but the problem here is that your crosshairs are not rendered at the same distance as what you are looking at - so again you will see either two targets or two crosshairs depending on what you focus your eyes on.
The only ways to fix this are:
A 2D scope view
Binoculars Crosshairs that are rendered (displayed) at the same distance as what you are looking at (like the Red Diamond Aim Assist already is).
Both issues were present in SE3. The more annoying one was fixed with the option of 2D scope view when playing in 3D. The binoculars weren't fixed.
Both issues were known to Rebellion since the release of SE3. Yet, they chose to not fix them. Which is hard to understand and very frustrating.
