Question regarding interpretation of two quran verses?
Ok, this might seem trivial but I was curious about the interpretation appearance of the houris made by some scholars:
“Allah, The Exalted, says (what means): {As if they were rubies and coral.} [Quran 55:58] Al-Hasan and most exegetes said that what is meant is the clarity of ruby in the whiteness of coral. He resembled their clear pure color to rubies and coral. This is proved by the statement of ‘Abdullah (ibn Mas‘ood) that the women from the wives of the people of Paradise would be wearing seventy silk garments and the whiteness of her leg would still be seen from underneath them; Allah says: {As if they were rubies and coral.} Verily, ruby is a stone which if you were to insert a wire inside it, you would see the wire through the stone.”
and ibn zayd, al hasan( already mentioned above) and others have said this about verses 37:49:
, he and others have held this view at the same time saying the houris are (yellowish white), while they have said this as well: (from ibn zayd narrated by the same person about verse 55:58
saying their whiteness is like coral(small pearls)
Now seeing as they are describing the same kind of women(houris), my question is, are these two interpretations contradictory with each other seeing as the same scholars have expressed both of these opinions.
