Similar class/build to grim dawns shaman?

Hey guys just starting out path of exile, looked around and couldn't find exactly what I was searching. Am trying to decide what starting class to begin with and which ascended class to choose.

Basically looking for a melee character that uses elemental skills to damage with his sword/mace/etc and has HIGH dps. Having a pet would be big plus but not necessary. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance
