Well dressed Dublin scammer 2.0

Hey Reddit the well dressed Dublin scammer is back! A while back there was a story about a guy claiming to be robbed and wanting a place to crash before his insurance kicks in.. if you don't remember or haven't heard of him before I'll tell my story:

Yesterday a woman I work with (in temple bar) was outside having a smoke when a well dressed youngish man comes up to her asking if she lives in the city centre. Obviously as an opener this was a bit dodgy so she was cagey about her details to say the least but this guy was friendly and opened up to her.

He said he was from Auckland and he and his girlfriend were staying in Dublin for a week and had been robbed the evening before. He said all his money phones etc had been taken and the Gardaí were very unhelpful. He said the gardai had offered him and his girlfriend a bed in a homeless shelter for the night but they didn't want to take it. He asked if she knew anyone in the city who would offer them a bed for the night as they couldn't afford a hotel because they were waiting for their travel insurance to kick in.

Obviously this story pulls at the heart strings and if you weren't willing to offer a bed in your home you'd want to help somehow so she said she could give him some money to help but she needed to go back upstairs to her office to get it. She said she'd be back in 10 minutes and he said he would offer a laptop as insurance so that he could come back, repay her and get his computer back.

On her way to the office she stopped to tell me this sad tale but me being the avid Reddit user I am felt this story was very familiar almost too familiar and of course I was right this popped up here a couple of months (more?) ago and while the guys origin has changed the story is almost identical.

So this is just a quick(long) post to tell people to be aware of the Well Dressed Dublin Scammer
