Young couple thinking about Olympia?
I am 19, and a CNA in Alaska. My partner is 24, and works at a bank and with the dream of a government-type job sometime. My grandmother is sick and getting sicker, and my siblings are all having babies down in Washington, and I'd like to be down south around them. The general location of Olympia is perfect for us. I've lived in Washington before, on Whidbey Island, and loathed the tiny town feel with huge plains/farms. Part of why I love Alaska is the mountains and forests.
Which brings me to my list of questions: Are there any real mountains (I'm a snob when it comes to size) or evergreen forests nearby?
Is there the potential of my partner finding the sort of job she'd like, and are CNA's or people with such skills able to make a living there?
Our goal would be a one bedroom (preferably two since we'd like to start a family soon enough), pet friendly apartment for about $1000, maybe up to $1200 if we had really good paying jobs, is this possible in Olympia?
Also, I was curious about the LGBTQ+ scene in the area? Any clubs, bars, events of the sort that happen?
Thank you in advance!
