Delicate? Fragile?

I'm new to digital watches, and considering an Apple Watch series 2. Primarily for the built in GPS (running) and comparability with my iPhone and some aviation Apps. How durable is the watch itself? Specifically the glass? Also any opinions on wether or not it's worth it for my use, would also be appreciated.

I'm in the Military and am pretty rough on my watches. My older G-shocks stood up well. But now I am a pilot so less field work, but still plan on naming it around a bit (unfortunately)
