How would a car with 5 star crash protection fare in a 90mph crash?

This question stems from me and a friend discussing Paul Walker's death. He is in the belief that Walker died because the Porsche Carrera GT is dangerous and he would still be alive if the car was safer, whilst I believe the crash was driver error and even if it had 5 star ratings, it still wouldn't have protected the occupants.
