Periodic Redirect on Chrome browser (pc, Windows 10)

I was messing around on the internet and ended up unfortunately with a browser redirect virus. 1 times out of 10 when I click on a link or a "show more" link on a verified website (like Yahoo) instead of getting what I want, I get a redirect to what's basically a scam attempt ("important message from microsoft").

How do I go about removing this virus?

I could simply ignore it since it happens rarely, but when it does it gets annoying.

As always, any help would be greatly appreciated.
