[META] Properly tagging your post: how to advertise to the people you're actually looking for!
When making a post, as most of you already know, you have to put your age, search tag, and (preferably) a title. An example would be something like this:
25 [M4F] This is a title!
What I referred to as a "search tag" is the bit in the brackets in that example. It is required of all posts, or automod will pull it. Different subforums use slight variations, but here are most of our possible tags:
If you are a male seeking someone...
-
[M4F] - male seeking female
-
[M4M] - male seeking male
-
[M4T] - male seeking a transgender person(additionally, it would be extra helpful if you specified in your post that you are looking for a transgender man, woman, or nonbinary)
-
[M4FM], [M4MM], [M4FF] - male seeking couples(female and male, male and male, and female and female couples, respectively). The reverse works for couples seeking singles.
-
[M4R] - male seeking anyone, as in you don't care what gender replies to you
If you are a female seeking someone...
-
[F4M] - female seeking male
-
[F4F] - female seeking female (this means guys shouldn't be replying to posts with these tags)
-
[F4T] - female seeking a transgender person(additionally, it would be extra helpful if you specified in your post that you are looking for a transgender man, woman, or nonbinary)
-
[F4R] - female seeking anyone, of any gender
-
[F4FM], [F4FF], [F4MM] - female seeking couples. The reverse works for couples seeking singles.
If you are a transgender person seeking someone...
-
[T4M] - transgender person seeking male
-
[T4F] - transgender person seeking female
-
[T4T] - transgender person seeking transgender person
-
[T4R] - transgender person seeking anyone
-
[T4FM], [T4FF], [T4MM] - transgender person seeking couples. The reverse works for couples seeking singles.
(Additionally, it would be extra helpful if you specified in your post that you are a transgender man, woman, or nonbinary.)
For group search posts/people who wish not to indicate gender...
-
[R4R] - a person/group of people seeking anyone
-
[R4F], [R4M], [R4T], etc - see examples above
If you see a post that you really like, but see that the tag does not indicate that you are what the poster is looking for, do not reply to it. Don't comment or message them saying "too bad I'm not what you're looking for", or "well I know you said you wanted this, but maybe..." or anything like that. Posts are tagged a certain way for a reason.
Likewise, tag your post appropriately! If you are a male looking only to talk to females, don't tag your post [M4R]. If you're a female who only wants to talk to males, don't tag [F4R]. Basically, there's a lot of people using R instead of the correct tag, then writing in their posts "looking to talk to men who..."
Tagging your posts correctly will not only help bring the right people to your posts, but also (hopefully) deter people from replying who are not the gender specified.
