Can I fix this?? Kraus 1602 (faulty diverter) problem

I'm a noob when it comes to plumbing so I'm hoping some of you pro's out there can give me some advice. Long story short we bought a home which had a Kraus 1602 faucet installed for a kitchen sink. It broke, home warranty won't cover it because blah blah blah....manufacturer won't honor a warranty on it because I'm not the original buyer of the product...so now I'm stuck with an annoying faucet that only half works and I'm told to buy another one for $250. No thanks Kraus.

Here's the problem. Water comes out just fine from the main spout, but when you try and use the removable spray arm it freaks out. The manufacturer says it's a faulty diverter and I must purchase a new unit. I'm wondering if that's bullshit and it's fixable. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Is a diverter a universal piece?

Here's a video of said problem
