LPT: If you receive a call from an unknown number, avoid saying the word "yes"

Miscellaneous

Scammers can use an audio recording of you saying "yes" to sign you up for contracts, services, agree to payments, etc. If you aren't sure who's calling you, or until you are comfortable they aren't a scammer, answer their questions as a direct rephrasing.

"Hello? Hello, can you hear me?"

"I can hear you."

"Is this Bob?"

"You are speaking to Bob."

"Am I calling at a good time? / Do you have a moment to talk?"

"Right now is fine."

"I urgently need to contact you regarding Mrs. Johnson. Are you her husband?"

"I am her husband."

etc. etc. etc.

In the event they aren't a scammer, and actually someone who needed to talk to you, answering questions in this manner is a little awkward, but at least not rude.
