(CDN$) HTPC/light gaming box (spare parts) - thoughts? (X-Post from r/bauildapccanada)

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using. It will be my secondary pc for at my Dad's place, plan to share it with him. going to be using it mainly for web browsing, vidoes, netflix on a tv. light gaming with my compatable steam titles, emulators etc... might use it for some music and audio stuff but not a huge focus point as i have an overclocked system and good gear for that already

What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?

400-500 dollars, im looking for price saving suggestions on my build

When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

couple weeks, latest mid march, if pricing changes i can look around for something priced the same so outdated prices isnt a huge issue ( im also very aware, although weary of ryzen coming :D great benchmarks so far but the pricing will really determine how awesome it is, might hold out.) although a huge issue with this system is the DDR3

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc) tower only ( please use the parts i already have 'purchased' aka. lying around needing to be used)

Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?

Ontario, Canada. no micro centre although we do have a Canada computers shop ( Canadacomputers.com )

If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.

16 GB (2x8GB) DDR3 corsair vengance 1600mhz

550w coolermaster elite v2.0 psu

possibly Win 8.1 key i used on my gaming rig

Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?

maybe the cpu if i can get the baseclock method going ( most likely not) GPU if it has an external power pin / headroom but probably not.

Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)

Min 2tb HDD(7200rpms), no ssd unless your magic and make the price go down and add one in

preferably AMD gpu as ill most likely be using this with linux and need the open source driver support

Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?

Micro atx perfered

Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?

no key needed. Probably going to use linux ubuntu or arch. unless my Win 8.1 key is magically reusable

Extra info or particulars:

So I already have a good PC, this will be a backup made up of a few spare parts (550w psu and16gb ddr3). So I've set out to make a sub 450$ CDN budget computer to house these parts and use as a media box and backup gaming rig (as I have one with 6600k and a gtx1060) Thoughts on this build to lower cost? I need at lest 2tb, and a gpu with hdmi

If your going to tweak the build please keep the re used parts as 0$ I already have them :). I'll try and re-use a Windows key but as a side note, this will probably be a Linux box as I've always wanted to learn just never had to, good opportunity. Any feedback or comments would be nice
