Worth Upgrading 2011 MBP?

I've had the 13" late '11 model through college, and now I'm facing 4 more years in grad school. I'm trying to decide whether I should spend ~$300 on RAM, SSD, and battery, or shell out ~$1,000 for a new laptop altogether.

It would be great for the computer to see its 10th birthday with these upgrades, but how likely is it? Anyone here with an MBP that made it 10 years without major issue?
