California - No Refund only Transfer of Service for Pet Euthanasia
Sorry for the long post. I wanted you legal sorts to have all the information.
My question. Is this legal? If I pay for Home Euthanasia, if something happens and I don't use their service, I have no recourse?
Should you decide that you do not want to use our service after you purchased our Peace of Mind package, you may donate it to a friend, family member or to a family in need who cannot offer our service. The package is fully transferable to anyone you wish.*
Dear Steve,
In order to help you make arrangements for your pet’s End of Life, we offer a significant discount on your pet’s euthanasia and aftercare if you make arrangements priorly. Your pre-paid package includes the visit to your home, the euthanasia, your chosen aftercare and a free paw print (We are not able to offer paw prints if you will care for your pet’s remains yourself, so the total discount on pre-paid Euthanasia with no aftercare is $85). The total value of the discount is of $120.
Your package for Oliver will be $720. We don’t do credit card information via email so if you could please give us a call we will handle that personally.
We suggest you print this email along with all the forms you will need, fill out those forms and put them in a folder so you can be ready and not have to worry about anything but calling us when the time comes for your sweet fur baby.
What your Peace of Mind package includes:
•The doctor’s visit to your home •Euthanasia •Respectful and dignified care of your pet’s remains •Private cremation with return of ashes. •A basic paw print •Over the phone consultations with our caring and compassionate staff who are there to answer your questions and make things easier for you.
What your package does not include:
•After hours or emergency fees. If your pet takes a turn for the worse unexpectedly and you need us to do the visit after hours, please call us immediately and we will be there to help you outside of regular hours, day or night, holiday or week-ends, but an off-hours fee will be assessed ($75-$250 depending on the time of the visit).
•Paw Print upgrades
•Quality of Life assessments or Hospice visits.
•Additional travel fees if the visit is done at an address that is outside of our immediate service area.
Upgrades on paw prints, or off hours fees can be paid for at the time of the service, or can be paid for at the time you purchase your package if those fees can be predicted.
If your pet passes away naturally we will care for your pet’s remains with respect and dignity. We will come to your home, pick up your pet, have him or her taken to the cremation facility, have him/her cremated and we will personally bring your pet’s ashes back to you. You will get a portion of the package back (the difference between what you paid and the cost of the aftercare).
Should you decide that you do not want to use our service after you purchased our Peace of Mind package, you may donate it to a friend, family member or to a family in need who cannot offer our service. The package is fully transferable to anyone you wish.

Appointments which go longer may be subject to an additional fee.
We strongly recommend that you browse our website in order to familiarize yourself with the different areas of concern regarding euthanasia /End of Life and to ensure that you benefit from the materials on our website which will help you make educated decisions/choices. Particularly, this article will be helpful for you to prepare for your appointment: http://www.homepeteuthanasia.com/preparing/preparing-for-the-event
We highly recommend that you print and fill out all the paperwork ahead of time so that you can be free to have all your attention on Oliver during the appointment and so that you do not have to worry about any technical points. You can find the forms here: http://www.homepeteuthanasia.com/preparing/forms. If you are unable to fill out the forms ahead of time, this is not a problem at all: the doctor always carries the forms and you may fill them out at the time of the appointment.
We encourage communication. If you have any questions, concerns or need clarification on anything, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Our purpose is to make this difficult time easier for you and to make things very peaceful for Oliver. We are here to help you.
