Replacing a stolen Equatorial Mount/Tripod/Counterweight
The mount, counterweight and tripod for my Celestron C8 were stolen out of my car a few weeks ago. Some jerk smashed the rear windshield and snatched the cases they were in. Thankfully, my renter's insurance is covering the loss (LPT: get renter's insurance).
They're cutting me a check for ~$850, and I'm currently shopping around. I'm not set on spending the whole wad on a replacement, as there are some eyepieces/accessories I'd also like to pick up.
Is it reasonable for me to expect to find an equatorial mount, tripod and counterweight for ~$300-500? I've gathered from reading suggestions on the stickied posts that go-to and computerized mounts aren't the most cost-effective, but most mounts I've seen for sale come with that go-to functionality. What are some good sites to shop around on? I've poked around on telescopes.com, B&H and Adorama, but any other recommendations for retail sites would be appreciated!
I've been looking at the BRESSER Exos-2 and the Celestron Omni CG-4.
