Why does it seem like the plot in this game gets more criticism than the others even though it's more marketable?

I couldn't get into any of the previous final fantasy's because of certain elements I found off-putting. This is the only one I actually like. This game seems like it has the best story out of all of them as none of Final Fantasy's stories have ever been coherent. FF is known for having incoherent stories. I'm an outsider and even I've heard of the 13 trilogy. Even when I look at Final Fantasy 7 reboot trailer, I still can't get into it because something about it, it's too cryptic. But I don't really hear people saying anything about that... Only about this. Why is that?
