[PC][early 2000s] Looking for horror fps that scared me shitless as a kid

This game gave me such a scare that my hands were shaking for like an hour afterwards. Now that I'm a big boy help me find the game's name (will probably still send chills down my spine). Its got to be about 15 to 20 years from that event.

The summary is simple. A doom clone in terms of atmosphere (very heavy dark with monsters, zombies, etc.) and in gameplay (big guns, you gun your way out of horde attacking, some platforming, i think there were even power ups and armor packs). The graphics were 3D and they were the gritty, low poly kinda smiliar to duke nukem 3d like you would expect for games released at the begining of the century.

However, I distinctively remember that you had to choose 4 (i think?)characters, each had like its own theme and color and a different starting area. One was red/orange started in this fiery place, someone started in a laboratory or something, oh and also the game kinda have more of a goth feeling to it, beacuse I think I remember a clocktower or something like that in a cutscene but dont exclude sci-fi themes from your search completely its kinda a combination of both (at least i think so), but the atmosphere was really dark so I would assume the demon theme is stronger.

And that is pretty much everything I can remember. I hope that my memory was still intact and that I have provided enough information.
