Discussion: Suicide Squad(The past and future)
Greetings. As most of you are well aware I enjoyed Suicide Squad despite the glaring flaws it has. I definitely think it could have been a better film-especially when I remember Assault on Arkham-the New 52 Squad comics I used to have, and because I know Ayer is more than capable of delivering an entertaining film. What more can I say about my favorite Denzel Washington film Training Day? How intense and profoundly acted is Fury? And going back to how significantly enjoyable the Comic con trailer was, the film definitely turned out a tad bit differently than was expected. Most of us have heard the "6 week script and they just went" " the reshoots changed the tone".
The things that I can confirm that indeed bugged me a little while viewing the film are as follows:
-Enchantress(particularly in the 3rd act)
-The inclusion of music in certain scenes(though I liked the "Gangsta" track during the acid bath)
-Joker potential undermined(he deserves more inclusion-tho I enjoyed the scenes he had)
-It not being R Rated
Now we are all aware of the rumor that none other than Mel Gibson might be directing the sequel. I'm fine with it, I am curious as to who would write the screenplay, and what other characters would be introduced in the sequel.
What are some steps do you personally feel the sequel can take to be better than the first? Mine would be:
-Don't go overboard on the music
-Don't bring back Enchantress until possibly Liman's JL Dark
-Up the violence
- More seriousness
The comment section is yours ladies and gentlemen. What does SS 2 need that the first lacked? What steps does WB and (potentially) do Mel Gibson need to take?
