Are there "hyphen" groups in other countries? (ie African-American) For example, in Germany, do they call black Germans African-Germans?
In the US some tend to call groups of non-white people by their cultural origin hyphen American. People of hispanic decent are referred to Mexican-American (odd as Mexico is in America, but I digress). People born and raised in the US who lineage originate from Asia are called Asian-Americans. Etc...
In Germany, , do they call black Germans African-Germans? In Canada do they say Asian-Canadian? In Nigeria do they say Muslim-Nigerian? Or is this a US only thing?
