On using sudo command in terminal in Max computers lab

I was looking around at the terminal in Mac in the computer lab and typed in "sudo top" command. The screen showed that the inquire has been denied and it will reported. Uhhhhh will my computing ID be affected? the top command is just to see the system's processes and resources usage so I think it's harmless. Has anyone used sudo command in Mac?
