Never go Full Huawei (Update)
I wanted to outline my RMA experience with Huawei Canada.
So far i have a had a nightmare of a time getting the battery replaced in my 128gb 6p.
So on Jan 23rd, i called huawei to get my device repaired after getting the sudden battery shutdowns. I checked my warranty on Huawei's site using my S/N and it indicated that my warranty period was valid until Jan 29th.
The rep on the phone confirmed the 29th date and had me take pictures of all sides of the device. After confirmation that my phone was in the condition i described, I had to ship the phone out to futuretel as that is their authorized repair centre in canada.
Once futuretel received my phone, the nightmare began. A couple days after receiving the device, futuretel sends me an invoice claming that my screen has physical damage and that it will need to be replaced. This without any mention of the battery issue.
After receiving this invoice i called huawei back, and they told me they were going to escalate the case and ask futuretel to send pictures of my device. they were supposed to get back to me within 24-48 hrs.
After the specified time, i did not receive a call from huawei. I called in myself and had to explain the entire situation again as there were no notes recorded by the previous agent, this happened twice more.
Fed up with this, i called a 4th time and without explaining again i asked for a supervisor. After speaking with the supervisor they escalated my case again and once again requested pictures from futretel. This was last thursday. I called back on monday and they did not receive the pictures from futuretel and told me someone was going to contact me again in 24-48 hrs.
Fast forward to today. I called in once again as no one called me back to inform me of any updates. Today they finally had an update on my case. Apparently, futuretel made a mistake by indicating there was damage on my screen. Instead it was simply out of warranty because it's 1 year after the manufacturing date.
I basically lost it after that statement. They have basically held onto my phone for 2.5 weeks telling me it had a cracked screen when in fact it did not and they quoted some date in october as the day the warranty expired. This is clearly not the case according to the agent i spoke to and the warranty check website. The supervisor i spoke to wasn't budging on the fact that whatever futuretel says is law of the land. I then brought up that they in fact hired futuretel, not the other way around and that they should be dictating when the warranty expires.
I have escalated to the next level and someone is supposed to contact me in you guessed it 24-48 hrs.
Needless to say, never going to buy a huawei device or any other device that needs to get sent to futuretel for repairs.
TLDR; huawei sucks, futuretel sucks, Huawei+futuretel=worst nightmare
