Why does Jim Cornette get a free pass for his psychopathic rants?

For all the good stuff he did in the 80s, Cornette is unquestionably an absolute piece of shit now with his rants about dipping Kenny Omega in boiling oil and all that shit because Cornette has the emotional maturity of a 13 year old.

Why does Cornette get a pass for all his psychopathic rantings with people saying that it's just a gimmick or whatever. If someone like Will Ospreay went on a Cornette style rant rampage tomorrow everyone would be wanting his head on a silver platter. But because Cornette was successful in the 80s, he gets a free pass.
