Is my carberateur needle bad?

Cleaning out a carb on an old 2 stroke outboard and came across this as the needle. Is this normal? Every other needle I've seen has come to a point. If this isn't right and does need to be replaced does it have to be replaced with the same exact one or can it be replaced with a different one like this. Tia!

Edit: the carb is off of a sears model 217 3.5 hp outboard motor, and the carb is a tecumseh. The needle in question is part #631505 but no one seems to have that part. So I guess the problem is finding a suitable replacement
