This game saved me from Opiate addiction

Time for a more serious post. I was hooked on opium for a couple of years. It got to the point where I was selling off valuables for my next fix, dropped out of college, had a falling out with my family...things were as you can vividly imagine not pretty. I tried to quit cold turkey but the damn thing just kept pulling me back into the cycle. There wasn't that one thing I could lean on to give me satisfaction in place of opium. As much as I loved football (played all throughout high school) and as much I loved video games (again played all throughout my life) my dopamine receptors would not respond. Maybe it wasn't the time, I don't know, god works in mysterious ways. Fast forward a month or so from relapsing and my birthday rolls along. Even through the hardships and the turmoils and falling out with my family they decide to surprise me with an Xbox One and a copy of FIFA 14!! Heck even in my lapsed state of mind I was jolly as fuck. I popped in the game and it took me on a JOURNEY! I broke down that night to myself and it just hit me. I went from varsity captain to a...junkie?! I literally had enough. That was the longest night of my life. Flashbacks of treating my family and loved ones of second rate importance, throwing away hard earned money, keeping myself back from an education, that night just rolled on and on. It was around sunrise I can remember vividly, I went to the bathroom and flushed the opium down the toilet, waited for my parents to wake up, came clean to them, we shared a VERY emotional day or two and I officially became the FUThead I am today! Currently enrolled in school, getting Gold 1/2/3 weekly, and making my way up divisions! This game rejuvenated my life all of a sudden and probably saved me from death. Just thought I would share, since I see a lot of complaining around here. Could be worse brother, could be worse!
