Client Setup & FAQs (Hermitpack 1.10)
##Introduction
Joining a server community, of a modded server no less, can be a complicated thing. This guide is meant to help you setup your client to work with our server as well as answer a variety of technical/community questions frequently asked by players.
##Client Setup Guide
(1) Install/Open the Curse Launcher and click on the ‘Browse FTB Modpacks’ button in the Minecraft section.
(2) Find ‘FTB Presents Hermitcraft 1.10’, click on the pack, and head to the ‘Versions’ tab.
(3) Download pack version 1.6.1 and head back to the Minecraft tab on the left side of the launcher.
(4) Once the modpack is installed and the green ‘Play’ button is visible, click on the modpack’s picture (not the ‘Play’ button).
(5) Click the ‘...’ button in the top right (beside ‘Get More Content’), go to ‘Profile Options’ and uncheck the ‘Locked’ checkbox. Click the 'Okay' button.
(6) Click on the ‘...’ button again, go to ‘Open Folder’, and then open the ‘Mods’ folder.
(7) Download Biomes O’ Plenty and put it in that folder (the ‘mods’ folder). The correct version is 5.0.0.2142 which should be the version automatically downloaded at that link.
(8) You should be good to go! :D
##Mod Pack F.A.Q.
Help, I can't craft an RFTools Dimension Enscriber/Editor/Builder!
To prevent the creation of RFTools Dimensions, these three items have been disabled. These dimensions take more server resources than we can realistically muster to allow players to create them on the regular and therefore, we have disallowed their use.
I'm using the recommended version of the FTB Presents Hermitpack 1.10 modpack, but it still isn't working!
Over time, modpacks get updated and the version we use may not be the recommended version anymore (as updating a modpack once it’s stable is a big ‘no no’). You have to specifically download the correct version using the setup guide above or you might not be able to get onto the server. If you installed the modpack with the recommended version instead of the version listed in Step (3), you will need to delete that version of the modpack and restart the setup process.
I did something in game which crashed me and I can’t get into the server any more!
Don’t panic, wait a little while and try to get back in. If others can’t get in either or you crash upon login to the server, private message me on Discord and we will figure out what is happening.
##Discord
What is Discord?
Discord is a substitute for other voice chat programs such as TeamSpeak, Mumble, or Vent. We use it because it's free, easy to maintain, and easy to use.
How do I use Discord?
Click the link in our Sidebar to the server and click 'Accept Invite'. You'll be able to setup an account and join up using the web client. Once you're registered, just download the desktop application (or you can't use push to talk) and launch. Our server will already be registered as having been joined by your account.
I can't talk in Discord!
Once you have joined the server, you need to be approved as a community member by myself (/u/KatelynAzurefire) before you can voice chat. If I am online, feel free to private message me and I will approve you (assuming you are whitelisted on the FTB server already). Then you just need to restart Discord afterwards for it to take effect.
One person is louder than everyone else, what do I do?
You can manually adjust someone else's incoming volume via clicking on their name and using the slider in the pop-up window. This changes is for your client only to customize your particular sound settings and has no effect on anyone else.
##Still not working?
If you have any questions, concerns, or issues, please feel free to contact u/KatelynAzurefire on Reddit, in-game, or via Discord private messaging.
